Once your pet reaches 7 years of age, he or she is no longer a youngster. Although some breeds of dogs age more slowly than others, 7 is a milestone at which you should start considering various issues that senior pets have to contend with. It is recommended that senior pets have annual exams and blood work done to ensure that all the vital organs are still functioning properly and to catch any diseases early, such as kidney or liver failure, in order to help slow their progression so that your pet can continue to live a long and healthy life.
