Meet Our Team
Dr. Mindaugas Milcius
Originally from Kaunas Lithuania, Dr. Milcius graduated from the Lithuanian Veterinary Academy in 1994. After veterinary school, he did his postgraduate Master of Science degree where he spent 2 years studying small animal fungal diseases. During his postgraduate studies he developed a special interest in small animal dermatology and spent 1 month as a visiting dermatology practitioner at the University of Illinois in 2000, under the guidance of world renowned dermatologist Dr. K. Campbell. Dr. Milcius has participated in the World Veterinary Dermatology Congress in Vienna in 2004 and in Vancouver in 2012. Dr. Milcius is a member of the Canadian Academy of Veterinary Dermatology, Calgary Academy of Veterinary Medicine, and the Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians. After moving with his family to Canada in 2004, he worked in numerous veterinary emergency and general practice clinics in Calgary before taking ownership of Avenida Pet Clinic in December 2015. He is passionate about all different types of animals and his pets at home include a rescued border collie mix dog, 3 cats, 5 snakes, and numerous different kinds of geckos and frogs as well. During his free time he enjoys fishing, playing soccer, basketball, and playing bass guitar. He is fluent in English, Lithuanian, Russian, and can communicate in Polish as well.
Samantha has worked at Avenida since late 2013 and is very excited about all the new changes that have taken place. She is currently enrolled in the online Animal Health Technology program at Thompson River University and due to graduate end of 2018. When not at work or studying for school she enjoys snuggling up with her dog Winston watching a good movie! Licensed Animal Health Technologist
Lydia graduated from the Animal Health Technology program at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in 1993. She is married and has two wonderful children and a spunky dog named Gia. Gia is four years old and was rescued from the Humane Society in Huston, Texas where they were living at the time. She enjoys spending time with her family as well as spending time alone in her studio painting. She has developed a special interest in painting portraits of pets and hopes to continue this hobby for many years to come.
Iveta has been working as a veterinary receptionist and assistant for 2 years. She loves all different types of animals and at home has a variety of different geckos, cats, and a dog. She is very interested in biology and sports medicine and hopes to eventually have a career in the medical field. She will be starting the Athletic Therapy program at Mount Royal University in the fall of 2017. When not at the clinic, she enjoys dancing latin ballroom and playing with her dog Heidi.
